Yes, cucumbers grow very well upside down
by: Anonymous

I planted 4 cucumber plants in an upside-down planter. They did very well. Due to Florida heat, I did have to water daily, but the cucumbers were soooo good! And grew very fast.

Growing Cucumbers Upside-Down

I planted 4 cucumber plants in one upside-down pepper planter which is smaller than an upside-down tomato planter.

They did very well until the roots outgrew the limited room they had in the planter. We did harvest about 6 or 7 very nice large cucumbers, so I would say it was a success. They tasted so much better than from the store.

However, I learned they need more root room so I will only put one in each hanging planter next time. When I emptied the planter, it was nothing but roots, no dirt was left at all.

We are growing a beautiful cucumber plant right outside the back door. It is great! No weeding, no digging, just lots of sun and water. We have eaten 2 so far. Yes you CAN IT'S FUN! You can see the change in them daily.
