Marigolds for companion planting
by: Tracy

If you are growing Marigolds to ward off nasty bugs, you might try Nema-Gones, they are from the marigold family but they work way better, much more fragrant. (ed. They also have been proven in trials to kill nematodes in the soil, according to the Burpee website.)

You plant them the same time as you plant your garden as they grow quite fast or you can start them indoors a couple weeks earlier. I sow them both ways. The bugs absolutely hate them, so I put them all over the place.

I had a hard time finding the seeds but finally did at Burpee Seeds. I think I paid like 7 or 8 bucks for the package but there are 2000 seeds in there.

You will only have to buy them once as you can save the seeds from your plant at the end of the growing season.
