Planting Onions
Can you plant onions in straw like you do potatoes?
ANSWER:
I have not heard of or seen onions grown using this method. I think it is necessary for onions to grow directly in the soil.
Some gardeners apply a straw mulch to their onion plants. This can be beneficial as it helps conserve moisture for the growing onion plants.
